pAUL aLVES is a person in Long Term Recovery from Substance Addiction, Food Addiction and Mental Health affliction. Born into an immigrant family and raised in Newark, N.J., he discovered freedom in the arts and became a sought after musician in New York City. pAUL has curated, performed and produced events with artists ranging from original 60’s groups to some of the biggest pop stars in the world. As his story spans from North America to Europe, it was New York City that lead his journey into recovery in 2008

pAUL is a Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist through the National Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). His experience spans the continuum of care. He has guided individuals in prevention as a Drinking Driver Program Instructor, in treatment as a Substance Abuse Counselor in a Co-occurring Medication Assisted Treatment Program and in recovery as a Peer Recovery Coach. With a positive attitude and contemporary perspective, pAUL believes that all individuals have the ability to recover.

pAUL has began training Recovery Coaches in 2012. Moving to New England  two years later, he has been Championing Recovery and the Peer Model in Massachusetts. He currently runs Choice Recovery Coaching Inc where he trains, supervises, creates curricula and Coaches Recovery with a team of peers across the Commonwealth and beyond.

pAUL’s mission is to make recovery a universal language by guiding individuals in empowering themselves, building stronger communities and fostering happier, healthier lives. He is fluent in Portuguese and also speaks Spanish.
